The Whole Child: A New Face on Facebook
That's right! The Whole Child is now on Facebook. Today we launched the Whole Child Initiative page on Facebook to help spread the word to parents, students, and the general public about the importance of ensuring each child is healthy, safe, engaged in learning, supported by caring adults, and academically challenged.
Facebook is a rapidly growing social networking site that connects people with friends and colleagues and can help nonprofits like ASCD generate awareness and support for key initiatives. Our Facebook page allows users to express their support by adding themselves as fans, leaving posts on the wall, uploading photos and other content, and joining other fans in discussion groups. The page includes background information about the initiative, ASCD's whole child video, and feeds to both ASCD's Whole Child and Inservice blogs.
ASCD hopes Facebook will help us reach audiences who haven't yet heard about the Whole Child Initiative, as well as provide a way for all whole child supporters to express their support and learn about the initiative's latest efforts. The potential reach is enormous—in May Facebook had almost 124 million unique visitors from across the world.
Visit the page and become a fan today! We also encourage you to leave a post on the wall with your ideas for content and applications we can add to the page over time.
