What does it feel like to walk into your school? Is it a welcoming place where everyone feels valued? Most school improvement efforts focus on academic goals. But what makes or breaks your learning community are the intangibles—the relationships and connections that make up its culture.
Douglas Fisher is a professor of educational leadership at San Diego State University and a teacher leader at Health Sciences High & Middle College. Nancy Frey is a professor of literacy in the School of Teacher Education at San Diego State University and a teacher leader at Health Sciences High & Middle College.
